Many bsd deeds are committed in the name of religion. Sacrificing animals is an inhuman practice which is widely prevalent even in the so called civilized cities. Through sacrifices people wish to appease anger of God and Satan both. Wrath of nature puts fear in uneducated people, so they offer blood to gods related to a particular element of earth. Some merely perform these ancient rituals because they want to test their power. Pre-Columbian civilization of Aztec people, and other civilizations like the Zapotec and Mayan, had human sacrifice religious ritual prevalent in them. Aztec Human Sacrifice is considered to be a myth by some people. Henan Cortes took over Aztec after a battle, he found about this practice which was very much prevalent in and around the Aztec capital city of Tenochtitlan. He even wrote about his findings. Bernal Diaz was an eye witness to this practice, and he wrote about it in The Conquest of New Spain. He explicitly mentions about the remains of these sacrifices. Native people vividly described these gory events to Spanish Friars, and Friars wrote them down as second hand descriptions.
Aztec Human Sacrifice is a sad truth about the dangerous side of man. Archaeological findings provide evidence of these criminal activities. Offerings were often made to ancestors, and remains of these offerings have been discovered in Pyramids. Pyramid of Tenochtitlan and Pyramid of Moon in Tenochtitlan are witness to these sacrifices. Blood is the life force that runs in human veins. And by sacrificing this blood to the supernatural, people tried to attain happiness, black magic powers, and victory over their enemies. Kings and their followers used this sacrifice to become more powerful. Aztec Human Sacrifice was performed by Aztecs during festive season. A king's daughter was used as the first victim, according to a Tenochtitlan legend. Aztec people believed that five gods had sacrificed themselves for the existence of human race, and to keep man alive, priests and people followed the sacrificial practice in Aztec. Mesoamerican civilization believed that through sacrifices, earth is enriched to keep human race alive. According to them, Universe was stable and in its place because of these rituals. No one wants to be sacrificed like this, yet those who sacrificed propagated that the victim had given himself as an offering to God. Human Sacrifice was the biggest penance among Aztec society. Some people even sacrificed themselves willingly to appease or please god for the sake of others. |
